UFS101 – 1^ST VOCABUARY ENTRY

Give 2 words and their meaning for each of the parts of speech below:

1.       Adjectives

¨       Meaning:

·         The part of speech that modifies a noun or other substantive by limiting, qualifying or specifying and distinguished.

¨       Example:

·         The house is big.

·         The car is colourful.

2.       Adverb

¨       Meaning:

·         The part of speech it is any word that modifies verbs or any part of speech other than a noun.

¨       Example:

·         Ali ran slowly to the car.

·         The tiger ran very fast.

3.       Nouns

¨       Meaning:

·           The part of speech or word class that is used to name or identify a person, place, quality, or action.

¨       Example:

·         I clean my house every day.

·         This is Ali car.

4.       Verbs

¨       Meaning:

·      The part of speech or words used to describe a word.

¨       Example:

·         My hobby is sing and sleep

·         Mariah laugh very louder

5.       Preposition

¨       Meaning:

·         A word lone of the parts of speech and a member of a closed word class that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in a sentence.

¨       Example:

·         He went to the store for buying milk and bread.

·         Bill worked as a fireman until a year ago.

6.       Conjunctions

¨       Meaning:

·         The part of speech or word class that serves to connect words, phrases, clauses or sentences

¨       Example:

·         It is neither sane nor brilliant.

·         The visitors complained loudly about the heat, yes they continued to play golf every day
